Mark Popp

Mark Popp is an accomplished media executive and producer with more than 30 years of international experience spanning feature films and premium television.

After studying film, television and photography in Boston, he graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film and Television in 1993. He began his professional career in the United States and spent nine years studying and working there before returning to Germany.

He initially worked as a production manager for documentaries, commercials and television in Germany and internationally. From 2000 onward, his work focused increasingly on feature films, where he became responsible for the planning and execution of complex, high-stakes productions.

His credits include productions made with Werner Herzog, Simon Verhoeven, Oliver Stone, Til Schweiger, Sven Unterwaldt and Markus Goller, as well as collaborations with global studios, major broadcasters and leading German production companies.

In 2009 he founded POPPULAR PICTURES GmbH. As CEO, producer and executive producer, he develops and produces commercially ambitious film and television projects and leads productions from creative development and script assessment through financing, scheduling, principal photography, post-production and delivery.

His work combines creative judgement with budget planning and cost control for productions of up to €40 million and above, international co-production experience, contract negotiation, team leadership and a trusted global industry network.
